Abstract

Sick building syndrome is defined as a condition in which the occupants of a building or
home experience symptoms harmful to their health that are associated with their time
spent in that location, without any specific disease or cause being identified; these
symptoms may be confined to a single room or specific area, or they may be present
through the entire building. Among the causes is the colonization of the internal
structures of buildings or homes by fungi of the genus Stachybotrys.
